The NIR-KICKER by ALREC-TEC is a high-speed sorting system designed for precise separation of materials based on their spectral properties. In combination with advanced NIR imaging, it enables reliable sorting of plastics, composites, and other materials — even in complex mixed fractions.

The NIR-KICKER separates materials based on both spectral characteristics and mechanical parameters. Engineered for recycling lines and processing facilities, it combines rapid actuation, robust image processing, and adaptive classification to achieve high purity and throughput.

Thanks to optimised actuator technology and intelligent control via SPS and FPGA, the kicker reacts in real time to detected objects. The integrated technology and software allow adaptive classification that can be flexibly adjusted to new material types.

How It Works

Lamps illuminate the conveyed material with near-infrared light. The reflected wavelengths are captured and analysed by a camera. An actuator then separates the identified material within milliseconds — precisely, quickly, and efficiently.
Note: Black plastics currently cannot be reliably identified, as they reflect very little and are therefore difficult to detect spectrally.
